Austin Franklin: TWICE BORN

Every now and then we begin to wonder about how God uses Social Media to spread His love and glory. There is not a doubt in my mind that God can work in all areas because of some of the amazing people we have had the pleasure to interact with on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn and Instagram. Even though they may seem mundane, there are moments when you get to witness the power of God.

For instance, we have been interacting with Austin Franklin (@MAfranklin81) on Twitter, and he has been a great supporter of what we are doing, and we support him in his ministry as well. A few weeks ago Austin had an encounter that shook us up here at TWICE BORN DESIGN. Here is Austin's Story. 

On June 27th I left work at 12 for lunch. I made it 100 yards up the road and stopped to turn left and was rear ended by a many in a dodge work van (15 passenger type) I drive a tiny ford ranger.

I remember hearing his tires squeal but after that my next clear memory was in the ambulance when they were sticking me trying to put an IV in. I work for my Dad so he was called and he ran up the hill to the wreck. The following is information from him. When he arrived I was laying over in the seat eyes open but unresponsive. He told me he was going to pray with me and he said that we he put his hands on my legs and started to pray that I closed my eyes like i could hear him. The paramedics and emergency response people all tried to get me to move fingers and toes but I could do neither for about 5 min. after that they said I started to wiggle my finger slightly. I was loaded on a hard back stretcher and put in the ambulance. When they fred to stick me is when i began to wake up. I was taken to the leading trauma hospital here in Knoxville. Before I even left the scene a text had been set out to the college group my wife and lead and it spider webbed from there. My friend and youth pastor from our church and his wife were at the hospital before i got there and so was my adult small group co leader with his wife. 

The dr. did cat scans and X-rays and determined that there was nothing wrong with me except a bruise inside my skull. and so he let me go home! The wreck happened at 12 and i was WALKING out of the hospital at 3. When the man hit me from behind it caused enough force for my body to push through the seat into the back of the cab and push out a torso sized dent from the inside of the truck.

I met the man 2 days later. He didn't have insurance so per law in TN he was taken to jail. he never was able to find out if i lived or what happened to me, in his words he saw me laid over in the truck and thought i was dead for sure. My wife and I were able to pray with him and his wife and help them out in some needs that they had for him to be able to go back to work! What a PHENOMENAL GOD we serve!

I am fine now, they said I could have a headache for about a month but it is fading away already.Prayer works!

Austins birthday is this week and we not only thank him for sharing his story but for letting us be apart of supporting his ministry. God is Awesome Austin, and yes Prayer does work. 

Reba Hunt: Twice Born

Reba is a wonderful woman that I met through Instagram. We first interacted due to a post that she was so excited to attend a local church camp called "Camp Siloam." I think Reba was skeptical at first, but I then asked her to be our (Twice Born Design) camp insider for the week and to tag us (@twiceborndesign) in any of her awesome photos. She happily agreed and was a great sport for following through. Something great happend along the way. Reba felt the call to re-dedicate her life to Jesus Christ at camp and this is her story!

Well I am 17, will be 18 July 26. I'm from Booneville, AR. Going to go to Arkansas Tech University in the fall. 

This year was my 3rd year to Siloam. I absolutely love it there! It was that Wednesday, day 3 of camp, and our speaker, Mike Keahbone, talked about "road blocks" and at the end of his sermon he did the prayer to ask God into your life, I always say it to myself for that extra reassurance, but then Keahbone asked for any one who said it to stand up and he repeated himself a few times and then he said "...even the believers that said it and said it for just the reassurance I want you to stand up too" I sat there for a few seconds and it was like someone just pushed to my feet. I was the most amazing feeling in the world. 

Reba is one of our great Instagram friends and it will be an honor to watch her grow in Christ though the photos that she posts. Glory to God.

I love this Video! Yes the song has kinda run it's course but what a fun way to get the whole youth group together on a summer day and become an internet sensation!

First Day of Summer!

Pools, Lake-Time, Picnics, and T-Shirts! Yesterday was the First Official Day of Summer! That means for the rest of the summer your attire will probably be one of two things. Either a bathing suit or your choice of T-Shirt/Tank-Top and a pair of shorts.

I know when I was a kid that's what I LIVED in! Most of my t-shirts where camp shirts or christian t-shirts. Most of them were from an event that I went to, and it made me proud to wear that shirt to "show off" what I had done that summer. It said a lot about who I was to someone just passing by, glancing at the shirt. They could tell what I liked, what band I was into, what Church I was with, and often it spoke of my personal beliefs. It was a starting point to "share the gospel."

"How To Love"

Love is so misunderstood these days. We associate it with a physical relationship or how much someone does for us. How did we get so off the point of what love is? Thankfully we have a few examples of what a healthy understanding of Love is from God's Word.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8: LOVE IS: 
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 John 4:8: LIFE WITHOUT LOVE:
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Proverbs 21:21: PURSUIT OF LOVE:
He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.


Romans 5:8: GOD'S LOVE:
But God shows his love for us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Chronicles 16:34 : GOD'S LOVE FOREVER:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

God's love is eternal, he will not leave or forsake you, no matter what you have done. Realize that Jesus is a God of mercy and forgiveness. Hold strong to those TRUTHS! Memorize one (or all)  of these verses and the next time the enemy attacks or causes you to think you may be "unlovable" just fight with words of Truth.

"Abundant Life" -John 10:10

"A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance."- John 10:10 HCSB

Now days we are so wrapped up in the mundane routines of life that causes us to not see life for what it is. I was told something by a bible study figure in my life that said that God has come so that we will have "LIFE". Yet. not just living in the day to day but to have a more "ABUNDANT LIFE."

If you have that Abundant life it causes you to see everything in a different light. When there are problems at school, at work, in relationships in general we have a way of stopping and looking for someone else to give us the guidance we need. It causes us to then see the big picture again, and whats the main reason God has us in the position we are in at the moment. 

God is always teaching, groaning and developing us as christians, and even thought things are not easy on a day to day, we still have a hope and way to have true optimism. Jesus is our Hope, He is our Life, and he has come to make that life more abundant.
